Luciano Piazza was born and lives inRavenna. He has been nature photographer since 1978. He started his activity making pictures for brochures, posters and the book Herons and Waterlilies (published by Essegi) for the WWF.
He works for the Nature Photographic Agency Panda Photo and his pictures appear on covers and inside pages of the most popular nature and photography magazines, such as Oasis, Geos, Terra, Reporter, Tutti Fotografi, Airone.
Together with his friend and colleague Roberto Zaffi, he is the author of many audiovisuals, includingDal Parco delle Foreste Casentinesi al Parco del Delta del Po (From the Park of the Forests of the Casentino area to the Po Delta Park), presented in 1999 at the ceremony for the twinship between the two Parks, Palude trionfo di vita (The marshes- where life thrives), Ali nella notte (Wings in the night), Acqua fonte di vita (Water: the source of life).
His audiovisuals depict the natural reserves and parks of the region. By combining his knowledge of the area and of animal behaviour with advanced photographic techniques, careful preparations and long hours of waiting, he manages to catch the most significant moments of the life of wild animals. In recent years he has increasingly used particularly advanced equipments, as radio-control devices, infra-red electronic traps and proximity detectors.
His pictures are a mean to understand the fabulous world of nature surrounding us.
